14.7 knots on sea trials
‘I like the ship. Facilities are the best quality and it’ll be a big change for us to move over to the new ship,’ said Friðleifur Einarsson, currently skipper of HB Grandi’s trawler Ásbjörn, who takes over as skipper of the company’s new trawler Engey which HB Grandi expects to take delivery of before Christmas.
Friðleifur Einarsson was on board earlier this week for sea trials, along with one of the engineers of Sturlaugur H Böðvarsson, which will also be replaced by one of the new vessels being built in Turkey. HB Grandi has three fresher trawlers under construction at the Celiktrans yard, which also built pelagic vessels Víkingur and Venus.
‘We saw an average speed of 14 knots on sea trials and the top speed we achieved was 14.7 knots. I expect we’ll keep steaming speeds to 12.5 to 13 knots, which is a knot faster that the speed we run Ásbjörn at,’ Friðleifur Einarsson said.
