HB Grandi receives an environmental award of the City of Reykjavik and Festa
Environmental awards were delivered at a climate summit held by the City of Reykjavik and Festa - Icelandic Center for Corporate Social Responsibility, in Harpa conference hall last Friday morning.
The awards were granted in three categories, climate award, encouragement award and award for information sharing and climate education. HB Grandi received the climate award which Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson, CEO of HB Grandi accepted in Harpa conference hall. Dagur B. Eggertsson, Mayor and Fanney Karlsdóttir, chairman of Festa handed over the award, specifically mentioning HB Grandi‘s carbon accounting, with the result of 5% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions between years, waste sorting stations in all the company's locations and the decision that HB Grandi has completely stopped the use of heavy fuel oil.

The awards were handed out for the first time this year, but in addition to HB Grandi‘s award, ISAVIA received the Encouragement Award, the web site loftslag.is received recognition for Information sharing and climate education, but since 2009, the website has communicated content on climate issues.
