The 97-tonne dryer that was transported to the new building, where cranes were used to help position it on the factory floor.
‘We have made good progress and having all this equipment in position is a big step forward. We are on schedule and expect to have the building fully weatherproof by the end of this week,’ factory manager Sveinbjörn Sigmundsson said yesterday.
He commented that the focus now is to finish weatherproofing the building now that the last phase of this is to complete the cladding on the tower over the evaporators that are close to 18 metres in height.
‘The next stage is to finish the piping and cable work so that we can get the final adjustments for the factory done,’ Sveinbjörn Sigmundsson said, adding that the factory is expected to be in operation in January next year.
